with The Sweet, Rogue Society
BLK Live, 7301 E. Butherus Drive, Scottsdale, AZ
Sun January 28, 2018

Legendary rock band The Sweet shot to the top of the charts in the 1970s with such hits as Ballroom Blitz, Fox on the Run,Love is Like Oxygen, Little Willy, Hellraiser, Teenage Rampage, Blockbuster and Action.

Formed in the U.K. in 1968, the original lineup featured vocalist Brian Connolly, bassist/vocalist Steve Priest, drummer Mick Tucker and guitarist Frank Torpey (later replaced by Mick Stewart and, subsequently, by Andy Scott). In 1973, the band produced their first number one hit, Blockbuster, which went on to achieve platinum status. Sweet toured extensively and continued to chart with Chinn and Chapman compositions.

In January 2008, Steve Priest assembled his own version of The Sweet in Los Angeles, California. He enlisted fellow Brit Stuart Smith, an old friend and a classically-trained former axeman for the bands Sidewinder and Heaven & Earth, on guitar. L.A. native Richie Onori, Smith’s bandmate in Heaven & Earth, was brought in on drums. The keyboard spot was manned by ex-Crow and World Classic Rockers alumni Stevie Stewart.

After an initial appearance on L.A. rock station 95.5 KLOS’s popular Mark & Brian radio program, the “Are You Ready Steve?” tour kicked off at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood in June, 2008. The band spent the summer playing festivals and gigs throughout the U.S. and Canada, including, among others: Moondance Jam in Walker, MN; headlining at the Rock ‘n’ Resort Festival in N. Lawrence, OH; London, Ontario’s Rock The Park; another headlining gig at Peterborough’s Festival of Lights; the Common Ground Festival in Lansing, MI; and a benefit concert for victims of California’s wildfires at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA.

In January 2009, The Sweet presented at the industry’s Pollstar Awards cocertand played a short set at the Nokia Theater, marking the first time in the ceremony’s history that a band performed at the show. In addition to local gigs at the House of Blues on L.A.’s Sunset Strip and Universal’s Citywalk, 2009 saw the band return to Canada for sold-out shows at the Mae Wilson Theater and Casino Regina, as well as the Nakusp Music Festival and Rockin’ the Fields in Minnedosa, Manitoba. U.S. festivals included Minnesota’s Halfway Jam, Rockin’ the Rivers in Montana (with Pat Travers and Peter Frampton), and two late-summer shows at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

with L.A. GUNS, Sons of Kaos
BLK Live, 7301 E. Butherus Drive, Scottsdale, AZ
Fri January 26, 2018

After a nearly 15 year break, Philip Lewis and Tracii Guns are back together for another chapter in their partnership that began in 1986, four years after Tracii formed L.A. Guns in 1982.

Their writing partnership spawned classic L.A. GUNS songs such as “Sex Action”, “Never Enough”, “Electric Gypsy”, “The Ballad Of Jayne”, and countless more in an impressive catalog of fan favorites. The last time Lewis and Guns joined forces was back in 2000 with legendary producer Andy Johns for the making of what would become “Waking The Dead” – an album that went on to receive tremendous critical acclaim and proved that their musical partnership was every bit as strong as the early days with all-killer-no-filler songs including “Don’t Look At Me That Way”, “Hellraisers Ball”, and “The Ballad”.

“I think we owe it to our fans who have stuck with us during the many ups and downs of the band’s long and checkered career,” says Lewis. “Tracii and I have written the songs to the soundtrack of many people’s lives, and I think it’s definitely worth investigating to see if the magic is still there.”

As for Guns, he’s been compiling song ideas over the last year and promises this one will be one of the band’s heaviest records, simply stating, “It’s good to be home.”

Bio: Half Pint’s diminutive stature belies not only his vocal capabilities but also camouflages his huge on-stage presence, often described as no less than explosive and dynamic. Born Lindon Roberts, but affectionately called Half Pint, he is a product of the West Kingston enclave of Rose Lane, a community in adjacent proximity to Trenchtown which has produced the likes of Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Toots Hibbert and a host of other international Reggae superstars.

Half Pint began singing in the school choir at All Saints’ Primary School. Upon completion of his secondary education in 1976, he made a head-on thrust into Jamaica’s music industry. Pint toured the island with various sound systems including Black Scorpio, Jammys, Gemini, Lee’s Unlimited and Killimanjaro, earning respect along the way as a talented vocalist and performer. Lindon Roberts was sought by and subsequently worked with top producers such as Errol (John) Marshall; Errol (Myrie) Lewis; Prince (King) Jammy; the rhythm twins, Sly and Robbie; George Phang; Jack Scorpio, Bobby “Digital” Dixon and Mass Hugh to name a few. He also lent his vocal talent to local peers like Garnett Silk, Tony Rebel and The Tamlins among others.

Slightly Stoopid and Pint have a history together recording songs in the studio previously and Stoopid’s manager, John Phillips (Silverback Management), was instrumental in Sublime / Long Beach Dub All Star’s success who have cited Pint as one of their musical influences.

Pint kept busy in 2009 and 2010 on the road with concert dates worldwide including Barbados, Hawaii, Toronto and the 20th Annual Western Consciousness show in Jamaica and Irie Reggae Festival in Long Beach, CA among many more. 2011 had Pint as a featured headliner at the 30th Annual Ragga Muffins Festival at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA and 30th Annual Tribute To The Legends Festival in San Diego, CA as well as he has been spending time in the recording studio with top producers.

“Fayuca Rizing Beer Presents”

Leighton Paul Walsh, better known by his stage name Walshy Fire, is a Jamaican American DJMC, and record producer who is better known as part of the dancehall reggae-influenced group Major Lazer alongside fellow DJs Jillionaire and Diplo.  Walshy Fire toured with the Black Chiney sound system beginning in 2004. Black Chiney is cited as a significant influence on the evolution of Major Lazer with its mash ups that blend hip hop or R&B rhythms with reggae & R&B artist vocal tracks and its representation of the Jamaican sound system. The subsequent mix tapes that the Black Chiney collective of DJ's, engineers and MC's would develop were the training ground for Walshy to become a remix producer.

with Ty Herndon, Caiden Brewer
BLK Live, 7301 E. Butherus Drive, Scottsdale, AZ
Sun December 10, 2017

Ty Herndon is a master of the ties that bind. The Grammy-nominated and Dove award-winning recording artist has the ability to connect with an audience far beyond his onstage performance.

Herndon has a passion and commitment to his music that continues to play out in his lyrics. “If I haven’t lived it, I haven’t sung it” as Herndon says. With a career spanning two decades, 20 Billboard charted singles and over five million albums sold, Herndon shows no signs of slowing down.

Raised in Butler, Alabama, Herndon has been a professional entertainer since his teenage years. At age 17, he performed at OPRYLAND USA as a cast member of “Today’s Country Roads.” He went on to be a finalist in the first season of the now iconic television series, “Star Search” and was a winner in the male-vocalist category.  This accolade led to appearances on numerous television shows and commercials.

As a live performer, he gained popularity while playing honky-tonks in Texas, and in 1993 he was named Texas Entertainer of the Year.  That honor led to interest from Music Row and a record deal with Epic Records. Herndon made his chart debut in 1995 with “What Mattered Most,” which became his first No. 1 song and garnered a Song of the Year award (Music Row Magazine). It was also the title track to his debut album, which debuted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and had the biggest first-week shipment in the history of Epic Records’ Nashville.

Between 1995 and 2002, Herndon charted 17 singles, including his three No.1s and numerous top 10 hits, such as “I Want My Goodbye Back,” “Loved Too Much,” “A Man Holding On,” and “Hands of a Working Man.” He topped the charts in 1996 with the single “Living in a Moment” and again in 1998 with “It Must Be Love.”

In 2010, Herndon released his album, Journey On. The album was heralded as the most personal project of Herndon’s career, due in large part to the fact that the project represented his first foray into songwriting. The songs reflected the personal challenges and struggles Herndon faced and conquered, and delivered on the promise of hope and new beginnings. The album received critical acclaim and earned him a Grammy nomination and his first Dove award.

Returning to his roots in country music and demonstrating his growth as an artist, Herndon released Lies I Told Myself in 2013. With the album, he found a new platform for bonding with fans. He invited the public to participate in his album launch via a well-publicized Kickstarter campaign that allowed fan investors to be involved both financially and emotionally. The end result was a testimony to Herndon’s affinity for connection; devotees more than doubled the original funding goal.

In November of 2014, Ty Herndon became the first major male country artist to publicly come out as gay. Shortly after, he made history when he hosted the first-of- its-kind country music event, titled The Concert for Love and Acceptance. The event, designed to bring attention and support to at-risk youth and acceptance, received national attention from Boston Globe, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine and more. Herndon received an outpouring of support that only strengthened his relationship with fans. Using his celebrity influence for the better good, Herndon is in the planning stages of a new coalition called RALY, (Rescue A Life Y’all) to help save lives and raise awareness for those with addiction or identity issues. A philanthropist at heart, Herndon has also donated his time to organizations such as the Trevor Project, Make A Wish, St. Jude, GLAAD, HRC and Feed the Children.
