There is an exci,ng resurgence of conscious, organic music in Jamaica, and industry experts and observers agree that
Protoje, born Oje Ken Ollivierre
, is playing an important role in what has become known as the "Reggae Revival.”
Leading the militant band - The
Indiggna,on
- this powerful songwriter and philosophical thinker ar,culates the righteous anger
of an emerging genera,on.
Protoje
reports for duty, re-establishing the standard for the decaying art of socially responsible,
mentally s,mula,ng lyricism.
Protoje
has successfully released three studio albums: his debut album THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH (2010), THE 8 YEAR AFFAIR (2013)
which spawned the hits
Rasta Love
*
Ky
-Mani Marley
, and
Kingston Be Wise
which featured on the soundtrack for the video
game Grand TheZ Auto; and ANCIENT FUTURE (2015) which featured the interna, onal hit
Who Knows
*
Chronixx
which topped
charts worldwide and has amassed over 50 million+ views on YouTube.
February 2017 saw the release of
Protoje’s
hit single
Blood Money
. The poli,cally-charged track, wriaen by
Protoje
and produced
by Ancient Future collaborator
Winta
James, dominated the airwaves and dancehalls, and became an instant topic of
conversa,on due to the lyrical potency of the song.
Blood Money
was selected by Jamaican Radio Personality and Pan African
Ac,vist
Mutaburuka
as the number one reggae song of 2017.
The follow-up single
Truths & Rights
was delivered in September 2017. The song also produced by
Winta
James, features up-and-
coming Reggae ar,st Mor,mer on the chorus, and similarly expresses their commitment to the ac,vism that remains at the core
of reggae music.
Protoje's
visibility has steadily increased. Named on BBC 1xtra’s Hot for 2015 Ar,ste list, he has since appeared on the UK’s
biggest music television show - BBC’s Later With
Jools
Holland; recorded two sessions at BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale, and
has featured regularly on numerous BBC Radio 1Xtra shows.
Protoje
has sold out headline UK, US, and European tours. He is a firm
favourite
at fes,val’s throughout the world,
performing at the likes of Glastonbury, Coachella, Reading & Leeds, Boomtown, Summer Jam, Musa,
Esperanzah
, Afro-Punk,
and Canada’s Pemberton Music Fes,val. Many appearances were broadcast on na,onal television and have set things up
for a huge 2018.

Ethan Tucker’s trademark sound of acoustic roots and layered electric guitars combined with an unmistakable soulful and bluesy vocal, is a recipe which has garnered attention from some of his most popular contemporaries, as well as bonafide legends. Ethan Tucker may only be in his early 20s but the self-starting Olympia, WA-native has already made a name for himself, impressing some of the more respected veteran artists in today’s music world. Performing and recording since the age of 16, Tucker has honed his unique blend of acoustic-roots, soul, blues, and reggae, slowly building a dedicated and ever-growing audience, and making friends with some significant musicians in the process.
Tucker struck up a friendship with kindred spirit Michael Franti at a tour stop in Sun Valley, ID. Wielding his acoustic on his back and making several attempts to engage Franti backstage, Tucker was finally given a shot to impress. Franti and his bandmates in Spearhead erupted upon Tucker’s delivery of an early rendition of his song “What They Say” in their dressing room and a new friendship and musical partnership was born on the spot.
After forging their bond over a two-year span, Franti invited Ethan to his San Francisco studio to write and record some music. These sessions yielded the backbones of the songs “Cool Kids” and “Crazy Tonight,” the latter which features Franti on vocals for Tucker's 2015 release "Misunderstood". Ethan has toured internationally as support for Michael Franti across Europe, and domestically on tours with the likes of Jamaican legend Jimmy Cliff, Buddy Guy and G-Love among others. In 2016 Ethan made a debut national television appearance on The Voice, wowing judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton with his unique and rootsy rendition of "Roxanne". Ethan ultimately went a couple of rounds on Blake Sheltons's team, with his version of John Mayers "Gravity" beckoning official NBC Voice videos and singles on ITunes.
Whether with his full band or simply a troubadour with a guitar, Tucker continues to win over crowds, any size, anywhere. The future is an exciting canvas for Ethan Tucker and you can anticipate hearing new music and video releases from Ethan in 2018.

THERE'S ONLY ONE ALL-FEMALE HARD ROCK BAND FROM THE 80'S WHO:
Sold over a million albums. Had six #1 videos on MTV. Had four songs in Billboard's Top 100.
Vixen was founded in St. Paul, MN by high-schooler guitarist Jan Kuehnemund. The desire to achieve the rock star dreams like so many before her, Jan took her group to Hollywood but soon retooled the line-up, which included; vocalist Janet Gardner, drummer Roxy Petrucci and bassist Share Ross (Pedersen).
In 1987 a pair of big brass balls at EMI Records decided to roll the dice with Vixen, despite all the stereotypes regarding bands fronted by chicks was then initiated into the male dominated club of hard rock. EMI released their self-named debut album "Vixen" featuring the groups’ first hit "Edge of a Broken Heart" penned by Richard Marx and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). MTV became Vixen’s playground and so coupled with exhaustive touring Vixen embarked on their ride.
